The invention relates to a combination of a metal can (2) and a lid (3), which can comprise: a bottom and a standing wall (6) which is connected thereto and of which the end zone remote from the bottom comprises an outward extending beaded edge (7) with a first part (8) extending in cross section through more than 360° and a second part (4) connecting thereto and having a smaller radius of curvature, which first part has an inward pressed zone (10); and which lid comprises a central part (14) and a peripheral part (13) connected thereto, which peripheral part has a form such that it can sealingly co-act with the inner surface of the can wall in the region of the beaded edge and extends through a certain chosen angle over the part located axially furthest outward of this beaded edge. The combination according to the invention has the feature that the inward pressed zone is situated predominantly in a range of 90°-210°; and that the wall has a snap part (11) at a slight distance from the beaded edge for snapping co-action with a correspondingly shaped snap part (12) present on the peripheral part of the lid.

A machine which is able to strip bearing line and weight line from a fishing net. The machine is designated with two steering rolls in the front (1) where the net is led through. Via a lower guide rail (2) supported by an upper guide rail (2) the net will be led to a rotating knife (3) which will separate the nets from the lines. On the back of the machine there are 4 rubber rolls (4) which - by engine power - draw both net and lines free off the machine and it is now easy to pick up. The advantages of the machine are that it is able to increase the speed of which the net is stripped. Until now this job has been carried out manually with a knife but the separation can now be done by machine. Using the machine stripping net you can now obtain a capacity of 10-15 net per hour.

The non-critical portions (42) of the truss (10) are configured so that the metal webs (28A, 28B) coupled to one side of the truss (10) do not have a corresponding aligned metal web (28A, 28B) coupled to the opposite side of the truss (10). Rather, the metal webs (28A, 28B) are coupled to the chords (12, 14) in an alternating pattern where there is a metal web (28A, 28B) coupled to one side of the truss (10), then a space, then another metal web (28A, 28B) , and so on. The other side of the truss (10) has a similar configuration, only offset, so that the spaces on each side of the truss (10) align with a metal web (28A, 28B) on the opposite side of the truss (10).

A pipe coupler with sealing apparatus for use with lined or unlined pipes (12, 14) has a pipe connector member (20) having a bore for receiving a floating seal means (46) intermediate to threaded pipe holding portions. The bore includes a bottom portion (32) between first and second recesses (34, 36). The first recess is provided with a stop side (64) for prepositioning the floating seal means. The floating seal means includes a steel ring (48) having opposing end recesses (58, 60); the inner diameter side and two ends are substantially encased with a resilient plastics material (62). When torqued, the steel ring of the floating seal means is centered over the bore's body portion with ends extending partially over the bore's recesses. The resilient plastics is forced into the steel ring's and bore's recesses to seal the pipe's ends against leakage without bulging the inner diameter plastics thereby keeping it flush with the pipe's inner diameters.

A fixture is provided for checking the continuity of a cable having wires running between terminals in two end connectors. The cable is designed so that a single path is provided by each wire and its associated terminals. The connectors are plugged into mating receptacles on the fixture which also includes an array of associated light emitting diodes and an array of pins. The user touches the stylus of a manually movable probe against each pin. Only the associated light emitting device will be energized if there is good continuity for a given path in the cable. Non energizing of the associated device or energizing any other device indicates a lack of continuity and the source thereof.

Advanced epoxy resin compositions provide improvements in processability, filler acceptability and rheology through the employment of epoxy resins with reduced viscosity per unit epoxide equivalent weight. The compositions are useful as powder coatings on metallic substrates. The products are obtained through the polymerization in the presence of a polymerization catalyst of a monomer mixture containing at least one vinyl aromatic monomer such as styrene, an epoxide group - reactive functionality and polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group - containing compound such as methacrylic acid, and optionally a hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate or alkyl(meth)acrylic such as hydroxyethyl acrylate. The monomer mixture is polymerized in the presence of a reaction product of a digllycidyl ether of a dihydric phenol such as bisphenol A and an epoxide group - reactive functionality and polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group - containing compound such as methacrylic acid. The resulting polymerization product is advanced in the presence of an advancement catalyst with a dihydric phenol such as bisphenol A.
