The invention relates to an angiological bandage. The inventive bandage is designed to generate sufficient compression energy, using the progressive constrictive force that is supplied when the bandage is wound around the surface of the leg, in order to improve the operation of the venous pump and to facilitate the return of blood to the heart. The design of the invention is based on two fundamental aspects, namely: (i) the physical ramp effect, whereby the bandage forms a helical surface that is adapted to exert both the progressive constrictive force and the compression energy in the same direction; and (ii) physical human locomotion serving as the compression energy source, using a pneumatic chamber which is provided in the plantar area of the shoe and which generates pressure pulses when the patient walks, said pulses being directed towards the compression chamber.

An absorbent article includes an outer cover, a bodyside liner and an absorbent core. A fecal retaining structure defines a perimeter having an aperture therein. The fecal retaining structure includes channels extending outwardly from the aperture. The fecal retaining structure preferably includes a cavity about the perimeter thereof and in communication with the channels. The cavity preferably communicates with the channels and provides additional volume for storage of fecal material. Fecal retaining structure preferably is formed by two layers of resiliently compressible material having different rigidity and compression resistance. One of the layers is smaller than the other layer such that space to form the cavity is present inside the fecal retaining structure. In a preferred embodiment the fecal retaining structure has a bicycle-seat shape with the narrow front portion extending into the front portion of the absorbent article.

A budget-constrained, machine-learning system is described that creates a shopping (purchase) list and performs on-line ordering and delivery. It receives the shopper's past purchase receipts from a retail store, pharmacy and/or auto center. It may attach to a web server to acquire on-line browsing information. The system creates a Purchase List from acquired information. The system receives a budget and determines if all items on the Purchase List can be bought under the budget. If not, the items are given priority ratings. The system walks down the list to in decreasing priority rating order identifying items to purchase without exceeding the budget. The shopper may override the items identified to be purchased. Shopper override is monitored by a machine learning engine which adjusts the priority rating of the item or the period of replacement for the next shopping trip/session, allowing for more accurate results and flexibility.

A power plant and method for the generation of power from flowing air utilizes a generally vertically extending duct (12) having an inlet (16) open to atmosphere at an elevation above an outlet. A spray system is mounted adjacent the inlet for spraying droplets of a predetermined amount of water into the air causing the air and droplet mixture to become cooler and denser than the outside air to create a down draft of fluid within the duct. A power system (66) mounted adjacent the outlet (64) recovers energy from the downdraft of fluid passing through it. The predetermined amount of water sprayed is greater than the amount of water that would theoretically and potentially evaporate in the air throughout the entire elevation over an unlimited time period using fresh water droplets. The power plant can also be synergistically combined with desalination systems and aquaculture.
