A key component of the" system and process is an oxygen-fired , combustor (10) designed for gas turbine operating pressures. The combustor ( 10) produces a high-temperature gas stream that enters . one or more heat exchangers (20, 40) to generate/heat steam, and then enters one or more turbines (30, 50) to generate power. The steam from the heat exchanger drives one or more steam turbines (30, 50) to generate power, and the discharged drives one or more steam turbines (30, 50) to generate power, and the discharged steam is admitted to the combustor (10). To maximize cycle efficiency, steam extraction (34) and reheat is incorporated in the process. Additional power is generated from a high-pressure nitrogen stream produced by an air separation unit (ASU). This process has the potential to attain high cycle efficiencies with zero emissions, while utilizing existing or near-term steam turbines, and moderate- pressure combustion.

The invention furtlier relates to a method for the production of foams by implementing the above-mentioned measures (I and Π) and to the utilization of the resulting foams in hygiene articles for the absorption of body fluids, in dressing materials to cover wounds, as sealing materials, packaging material, soil conditioners, soil substitutes, mud drainage, the absorption of acid aqueous wastes, for thickening aqueous paints in the disposal of paint residues, dehydrating water-containing oils or hydrocarbons or as material for filters in ventilation systems.
