A cleaning robot comprises: a body; a driving unit transferring the body; a cleaning unit cleaning a cleaning space; a front obstacle sensing unit transmitting front sensing microwave toward the front of the body, and detecting front reflection microwave reflected from a front obstacle; and a control unit detecting position information of the front obstacle based on the front reflection microwave. The cleaning robot detects existence and inexistence, and position of the obstacle by using impulse microwave which is strong to external influence so that ability to sense the obstacle is rarely changed. 본체, 상기 본체를 이동시키는 주행부, 청소 공간을 청소하는 청소부, 상기 본체 전방을 향하여 전방 감지 전파를 발신하고 전방 장애물로부터 반사된 전방 반사 전파를 검출하는 전방 장애물 감지부, 상기 전방 반사 전파 사이를 기초로 상기 전방 장애물의 위치 정보를 검출하는 제어부를 포함하는 청소 로봇은 외부의 영향에 강인한 임펄스 전파를 이용하여 장애물의 존부 및 장애물의 위치를 검출하므로 외부 환경의 변화에 대하여 장애물의 감지 능력의 변화가 적다.
