PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sliding characteristics, especially wear resistance, and also to improve adhesive strength of a sliding layer in a sliding member having a sliding layer on the sliding surface.

SOLUTION: A plated layer 1a is provided on the surface of a base material 1 made of stainless steel or carbon steel, and metal powder of a copper alloy or the like is sprayed on the surface of the plated layer 1a and sintered to form a porous layer 2. The porous layer 2 is impregnated and coated with the sliding layer 3 containing PBI and 1 to 70 vol% solid lubricant. PBI is more excellent in heat resistance and has higher material strength as compared with those of thermosetting resin (PAI, PI, EP resin), so as to improve the wear resistance and non-seizure performance. Since the sliding layer 3 contains the solid lubricant, a coefficient of friction is lowered so as to improve non-seizure performance. Since the porous layer 2 is impregnated and coated with the sliding layer 3, the adhesive strength is high so that the layers are hardly separated from each other.

【課題】すべり面に摺動層を設けたものにおいて、摺動特性、特に耐摩耗性を一層向上させると共に、摺動層の接着力を向上させる。
【解決手段】ステンレス鋼または炭素鋼からなる基材1の表面にめっき層1aを設け、このめっき層1aの表面に銅合金などの金属粉末を散布して焼結することにより多孔質層2を設け、この多孔質層2に、PBIと1〜70vol%の固体潤滑剤を含む摺動層3を含浸被覆させる。PBIは、熱硬化性樹脂(PAI、PI、EP樹脂)に比べて耐熱性に優れていると共に材料強度が高いので、耐摩耗性及び非焼付性を向上できる。摺動層3は固体潤滑剤を含んでいるので、摩擦係数を小さくでき、非焼付性を向上できる。摺動層3は、多孔質層2に含浸被覆させているので、接着力が大きく、剥がれにくい。
