A HAND WASH MONITORING SYSTEM

SPECIFICATION

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a hand wash monitoring system for monitoring the hand wash action of a user who washes his/her hands in a hand wash unit.

PRIOR ART

Cleaning is particularly very important in areas where health services are given. Besides the cleanness of health institutes, the cleanness of the health personnel is substantially important for the protection of patients from infections. These infections also called nosocomial (infections which occur in health institutes) can also lead to failure of treatment of some diseases.

Various methods have been developed for monitoring particularly the cleanness of hands of health institute personnel. One of the already used methods is to monitor the hand wash activity by an authorized person and to determine and to report the compliancy. However, this can be substantially subjective and even sometimes can have erroneous characteristic. Therefore, more developed methods are needed for monitoring hand wash.

As a result, because of all of the abovementioned problems, an improvement is required in the related technical field.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a hand wash monitoring system, for eliminating the above mentioned disadvantages and for bringing new advantages to the related technical field.

An object of the present invention is to at least partially facilitate hand wash monitoring and to increase accuracy of hand wash monitoring.

In order to realize all of the abovementioned objects and the objects which are to be deducted from the detailed description below, the present invention is a hand wash monitoring system for monitoring the hand wash action of a user who washes his/her hands

in a hand wash unit. Accordingly, the improvement of the present invention is that the subject matter hand wash monitoring system comprises a smart tag arranged to transmit the personal data of the user by means of connecting to a wireless communication network for providing carriage by said user; a control module which accommodates an image capturing unit positioned in a manner viewing at least a part of said hand wash unit and a communication unit arranged to make wireless communication in a predetermined coverage area; a processor unit associated with said control module and arranged to determine whether said smart tag is within said coverage area or not; said processor unit is arranged to receive said personal data from the smart tag in said coverage area and to provide said image capturing unit to capture a user hand wash image for a predetermined duration and to access a first reference hand wash image provided in association with the received personal data and to compare said hand wash image and said first reference hand wash image and to determine the matching amount. Thus, it is determined whether the user realizes the hand wash process as desired.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a deep learning model is used from end to end where the hand wash images received by the processor unit are realized by the machine learning method.

In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit generates“hand wash successful” information when a predetermined matching is determined.

In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said processor unit comprises a first processor provided in the control module and a second processor unit provided in a server.

The present invention is moreover a hand wash monitoring method. Accordingly, the improvement of the present invention is that the following steps are realized by a processor unit provided in a control module which accommodates a communication unit arranged to realize wireless communication in a predetermined coverage area: detecting whether a smart tag, connected to a wireless communication network for carrying by said user and arranged to transmit the personal data of the user, enters within a coverage area or not; taking said personal data from said smart tag; taking a hand wash image of a user for a predetermined duration by an image capturing unit positioned so as to view at least one part of said hand wash unit; accessing a first reference hand wash image provided in connection with the received personal data; comparing said hand wash image and said first reference hand wash image and determining the matching amount.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, the subject matter is explained with references to examples without forming any restrictive effect only in order to make the subject more understandable.

The present invention is essentially a hand wash monitoring system (10) for monitoring the hand wash action of a user who washes his/her hands in a hand wash unit (400). In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said hand wash unit (400) comprises a sink, a sink faucet, liquid soap or foam dispenser.

With reference to Figure 1 , in said hand wash monitoring system (10), there is a control module (100). In said control module (100), there is an image capturing unit (1 10) positioned to capture at least a part of the hand wash unit (400). Said image capturing unit (1 10) is arranged to make data exchange with a processor unit (120). Said processor unit (120) moreover comprises a communication unit (130) arranged to realize wireless communication within a predetermined area. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said communication unit (130) is arranged to provide communication by using bluetooth communication protocol.

In one of the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the communication unit (130) is arranged to realize data exchange with a server.

In the hand wash monitoring system (10), there is a smart tag (300) for said user. Said smart tag (300) is connected to a wireless communication network and arranged to transmit the personal data of the user. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, said personal data can comprise information like identity information of a user, profession information, etc. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the smart tag (300) is a tag which makes bluetooth wireless communication. The smart tag (300) is moreover used in an integrated manner to the collar name tag of the user.

An exemplary operation scenario of the present invention is described below;

In the hand wash monitoring system (10) activated manually and/or automatically, the communication unit (130) begins emitting wireless communication signals such that the communication unit (130) covers a predetermined area.The processor unit (120) is configured to;

- detect that a smart tag (300) is connected to the communication unit (130),

- receive the personal data transmitted from the smart tag (300) to the communication unit (130),

- provide beginning of capturing hand wash image of a user until a predetermined duration in the memory unit (140) by the image capturing unit (1 10),

- record in the memory unit (140) the hand wash image of the user together with the personal data thereof,

- access a first reference image arranged related to the received personal data,

- compare said first reference image and the user hand wash image and determine the matching proportion,

generate a“hand wash successful” output when a predetermined amount of matching is detected.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the information of image capturing duration can also be provided through a data source instantaneously. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, said user hand wash image accommodates the image of all of the hand wash activity of the user. Reference hand wash image data comprises the three-dimensional image of actions realized by the user during hand washing.

In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the reference hand wash image data is changing according to the operation group of the user. For instance, by means of the personal data, it is determined that the user is a personnel working in the first group. The first group is doctors. The reference hand wash image for the doctors is arranged to comprise washing hands for at least one minute and to comprise the processes required to be realized.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is a presence sensor in the hand wash unit (400). When the presence sensor detects a presence, it transmits a signal to the processor unit (120) and the processor unit (120) provides the image capturing unit (1 10) to begin capturing images.

In a different embodiment of the present invention, there is a liquid soap dispenser in the hand wash unit. When a user uses said dispenser, there is a movement sensor arranged to

transmit a signal to the processor unit (120). When the processor unit (120) receives signal from the movement sensor, it activates the imaging unit.

In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit (120) can comprise a first processor unit provided in the control module (100) and a second processor unit positioned in a server (200). Said first processor unit is configured to:

- detect whether a smart tag (300) is connected to the communication unit (130),

- receive the personal data transmitted from the smart tag (300) to the communication unit (130),

- provide beginning of taking hand wash image of a user for a predetermined duration in the memory unit (140) of the image capturing unit (1 10),

- record said user’s hand wash image in the memory unit (140) together with the personal data thereof.

Said second processor unit is configured to;

- access the first reference hand wash image arranged related to the received personal data,

- determine the matching proportion by comparing the user hand wash image with said first reference hand wash image,

- generate a“hand wash successful” output when matching at a predetermined amount is detected.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the hand wash monitoring system (10) comprises a screen arranged to display an image. When the hand wash process is unsuccessful, warnings like“hand wash unsuccessful” and/or“repeat washing hands”, etc. can be sent to the user. Said screen can be provided in the vicinity of the hand wash unit (400) and it can be the screen of an electronic device of the user.

In a different possible embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit (120) evaluates all user hand wash data of a user and reports the results at a predetermined data collection unit. Said data collection unit is like a second server, etc.

The protection scope of the present invention is set forth in the annexed claims and cannot be restricted to the illustrative disclosures given above, under the detailed description. It is because a person skilled in the relevant art can obviously produce similar embodiments under the light of the foregoing disclosures, without departing from the main principles of the present invention.
