CLAIMS

1. A method comprisi ng:

transferring information including a response uniform resource locator (URL) between a primary device and a secondary device using a primary communication channel between the primary device and the secondary device;

determining, using the secondary device, status of connectivity of a network separate from the primary communication channel;

transmitting, by the secondary device, a response to a request from the primary device via the network using the response URL when the status indicates the network is available, and transmitting the response via the primary communication channel when the status indicates the network is unavailable.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the primary device is a verifier device and the secondary device is a mobile communications device; and

wherein transferring information includes transferring engagement data between the primary device and the secondary device, and verifier engagement data is transmitted from the verifier device prior to mobile engagement data being transmitted by the mobile communications device.

3. The method of cl aim 2, wherein the URL is included in the engagement data transmitted by the verifier device.

4. The method of cl aim 2, wherein the URL is included in the request from the verifier device.

5. T he method of clai m 2, wherei n the verifier engagement data i ncludes a digital signature i ndicati ng that the verifier engagement data is from a trusted source.

6. The method of claim 1,

wherein the primary device is a verifier device and the secondary device is a mobile communications device; and

wherein transferring information includes transferring engagement data between the primary device and the secondary device, and mobile engagement data is transmitted from the mobile communications device prior to verifier engagement data bei ng transmitted by the verifier device.

7. T he method of clai m 6, wherei n the request is encrypted usi ng an ephemeral key provided to the verifier device with the mobi le engagement data.

8. Themethodof clam 6, including:

obtaining, with the mobile communications device, information carried on intermediate media;

causing the mobile communication device to automatically open a mobile driving license application stored on the mobile communication device; and

including information related to the mobile driving license application in the mobile engagement data.

9. T he method of clai m 1 , wherei n the status of network connectivity is analyzed by attempt! ng a communication via the Internet with a server identified i n the U R L , and wherein transmitting the response includes transmitting the response via an Internet connection to the primary device through a trusted web server identified using the URL.

10. T he method of c I ai m 1 , wherei n transf erri ng i nf ormati on usi ng a pri mary communication channel includes transferring information via the primary channel using one of a proximity- based communication protocol or a WiFi aware

communication protocol.

11. The method of clam 1, wherein the request from the primary device includes a certificate that identifies the primary device to the secondary device as a trusted source.

12. The method of clam 1, wherein the request from the primary device includes pinning information, and the secondary device identifies the primary device as a trusted source by matching the pinning information to a certificate previously received by the mobile communication device.

13. A method of establishing a communication channel between an application of a mobile communication device and an application of a verifier device, the method comprising:

reading, using the mobile communication device, information carried on media i ntermedi ate the mobi I e devi ce and the verif i er devi ce, wherei n the i nformati on includes a public key;

encrypting device engagement data using the public key;

transmitti ng the encrypted device engagement data from the mobi I e

communication device to the verifier device, wherein the encrypted device engagement data includes the public key;

receiving, by the mobile communication device, a request from the verifier device that includes an ephemeral key encrypted using the transmitted public key; and sending, by the mobile communication device, a response encrypted using a cryptographic method that uses the ephemeral key.

14. T he method of c I ai m 13, wherei n the i nformati on read from the i ntermedi ate media includes a certificate, and the method further includes:

determining, by the mobile communication device, whether the certificate belongs to a trusted authority; and

communicating, by the mobile communication device, the device engagement data to the verifier device in response to the mobile communication device determi ni ng that the certificate belongs to a trusted authority.

15. T he method of c I ai m 13, wherei n the i nf ormati on carri ed by the i ntermedi ate media includes a digital signature indicating that the information is from a trusted source.

16. T he method of c I ai m 13, wherei n readi ng the i nf ormati on from the i ntermedi ate media offline from a communication network.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the badge carries information that includes a certificate, and the method further includes

determining, using the mobile communication device, if the certificate is a valid certificate with a valid signature;

generating an optical code at the mobile communication device when determining the certificate is a valid certificate with a valid signature; and

presenting the optical code via a user i nterface of the mobile communication device.

19. The method of claim 18, including:

enabling a reader carried by the authority personnel to compute a decryption key using the optical code;

generating a response at the mobile communication device that include mobile driving license information for a carrier of the mobile communication device;

transmitting the response to the reader carried by the authority personnel; and decrypt! ng the response at the reader with the decryption key.

20. A method comprising:

receiving, at a mobile communication device, a request for information from a mobile driving license;

in response to receiving the request, preparing, at the mobile communication device, a response that includes multiple data elements related to multiple documents; and

transmitting the response from the mobile communication device.

21. The method of claim20, including storing an electronic record in memory of the mobile communication device that includes information related to the multiple mobile driving licenses.

22. The method of claim20, including storing an electronic record in memory of the mobile communication device that includes a language preference of a user, wherein the language preference comprises an indicator of a primary language for a user identified by the mobile driving license.

23. T he method of c I ai m 22, i nc I udi ng:

stori ng a country code identifier as part of the electronic record for the mobi le driving license; and

including the country code identifier in the response, wherein the country code identifier is different from the language preference.

24. T he method of clai m 20, wherei n the response is transmitted usi ng a wi reless proximity- based communication protocol.

25. T he method of c I ai m 20, i nc I udi ng:

stori ng an additional language preference as part of the electronic record for the mobile driving license; and

i ncludi ng the additional language preference i n the response.

26. T he method of clai m 20, wherei n transmitti ng the response i ncludes transmitti ng a response that i ncludes multi pie data elements related to a drivi ng license and at least one of an automobile registration and automobi le i nsurance i nformation.

27. T he method of clai m 20, wherei n transmitti ng the response i ncludes transmitti ng a response that i ncludes multi pie data elements related to multi ple drivi ng licenses of the holder from different license issuers.

28. T he method of clai m 20, wherei n transmitti ng the response i ncludes transmitti ng a response that i ncludes multi pie data elements related to an i nternational drivi ng license and a domestic drivi ng license.
