A display may have display layers that form an array of pixels. The array of pixels may be illuminated using a backlight unit. The backlight unit may include multiple strings of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The multiple LED strings may be controlled by one or more backlight driver integrated circuits (ICs). In a multi-driver IC architecture, an enable signal may be used to set a desired phase delay between the multiple ICs. One or more of the LED strings may exhibit a short fault. Depending on the number of faulty LED strings, the backlight unit can selectively throttle the maximum brightness of the display. The LED strings may receive an output voltage from a DC/DC converter and may be driven using a current driver. The DC/DC converter may be controlled by a headroom feedforward control circuit to ensure sufficient headroom for the current driver while suppressing acoustic noise.

L'invention concerne un unité d'affichage pouvant comporter des couches d'affichage formant une mosaïque de pixels. La mosaïque de pixels peut être éclairée à l'aide d'une unité de rétroéclairage. L'unité de rétroéclairage peut comprendre de multiples chaînes de diodes électroluminescentes (DEL). Les multiples chaînes de DEL peuvent être commandées par un ou plusieurs circuits intégrés (CI) de commande de rétroéclairage. Dans une architecture de CI multi-pilote, un signal d'activation peut être utilisé pour régler un retard de phase souhaité entre les multiples CI. Une ou plusieurs des chaînes de DEL peuvent présenter une courte défaillance. En fonction du nombre de chaînes de DEL défectueuses, l'unité de rétroéclairage peut régler sélectivement la luminosité maximale de l'unité d'affichage. Les chaînes de DEL peuvent recevoir une tension de sortie provenant d'un convertisseur CC/CC et peuvent être pilotées à l'aide d'un pilote de courant. Le convertisseur CC/CC peut être commandé par un circuit de commande prédictive à marge de sécurité pour assurer une marge de sécurité suffisante pour le pilote de courant tout en supprimant le bruit acoustique.
