A housing has a passageway containing a valve seat. A valve element seals against the valve seat to maintain the valve in the closed position. A release rod extends from the valve body and a shell surrounds the release rod, preventing its movement. The shell is formed in' several sections, maintained together by a wire. The wire is connected to a frangible initiator which, upon failure, releases the wire from the shell, allowing these sections to move away from one another. When this occurs, the release rod and valve body are able to move, opening the valve, allowing fluid flow between the inlet and outlet of the valve.

Selon l'invention, le boîtier comporte un passage contenant un siège de vanne. Un élément de vanne se positionne de façon hermétique contre le siège de la vanne pour la maintenir dans la position fermée. Une tige de déclenchement s'étend du corps de la vanne, et une coque entoure la tige de déclenchement, empêchant son mouvement. La coque est constituée de plusieurs sections, maintenues ensemble grâce à un câble. Le câble est connecté à un initiateur cassant qui, lors de sa rupture, libère le câble de la coque, permettant aux sections de s'éloigner les unes des autres. Lorsque ceci se produit, la tige de déclenchement et le corps de vanne peuvent se déplacer et ouvrir la vanne, ce qui permet au fluide de s'écouler entre l'admission et la sortie de la vanne.
