An organic electroluminescent device is disclosed which comprises at least two or more light-emitting layers (4, 8) arranged between an anode (10) and a cathode (2), and an intermediate electrode layer (6) interposed between the light-emitting layers (4, 8). The intermediate electrode layer (6) is a single layer or a multilayer body composed of multiple layers, and at least one layer of the intermediate electrode layer (6) is made of a semiconductor material having a resistivity of 0.001-10,000 Ω·cm. This organic electroluminescent device and a display using such an organic electroluminescent device are highly efficient and have long life.

L'invention concerne une diode électroluminescente organique comprenant au moins deux couches électroluminescentes (4, 8) disposées entre une anode (10) et une cathode (2), ainsi qu'une couche d'électrode intermédiaire (6) située entre les couches électroluminescentes (4, 8). La couche d'électrode intermédiaire (6) est constituée d'une seule couche ou d'un corps multicouche composé de plusieurs couches, au moins une couche de la couche d'électrode intermédiaire (6) étant fabriquée à partir d'un matériau semi-conducteur ayant une résistivité comprise entre 0,001 et 10'000 $g(V)-cm. Cette diode électroluminescente organique et un écran utilisant cette diode électroluminescente organique sont très efficaces et ont une longue durée de vie.
