Mobile devices are described, along with related services, systems, and methods. These devices(100) include displays (101) with pixel dimensions and pixel densities in ranges that are chosen to allow users to enjoy a more intuitive and more “desktop-like” Web or multi-media experience compared to other devices, while still enabling the devices to be pocketsize. Also described are devices with touch sensitive areas (201-204) on the edges or back that let users efficiently and intuitively control some behaviors of the devices by touching the touch sensitive areas in certain ways. Embodiments of the present invention reduces the need for mechanical controls, which enables keeping the frame around the device’s display unusually narrow, thereby permitting larger displays without increasing the overall sizes of the devices.

L'invention concerne des dispositifs mobiles ainsi que des services, systèmes et procédés qui s'y rapportent. Ces dispositifs comprennent des affichages avec dimensions et densités de pixels se situant dans des plages choisies en fonction d'une utilisation plus intuitive qui rappelle davantage un ordinateur de bureau que d'autres dispositifs, tout en conservant un format «poche». Sont également décrits des dispositifs avec zones tactiles sur la tranche ou au dos qui permettent à l'utilisateur de commander efficacement et intuitivement certains modes en effleurant ces zones de certaines manières. Les dispositifs de l'invention ont peu de commandes mécaniques, ce qui permet d'utiliser un cadre anormalement fin autour de l'affichage, et par là même d'accroître la taille des écrans sans augmentation des dimensions globales de ces dispositifs.
