A valve assembly with a multiple-component valve plug (21) is disclosed. The use of multiple materials in the construction of the valve plug provides different rates of thermal expansion in the axial and radial directions thereby enabling the valve plug to have thermal expansion characteristics that closely match that of the components in which it cooperates with. Specifically, the radial thermal expansion of the downstream end (19) of the plug is closely matched to that of the retainer component (36) which receives the downstream end of the plug. The radial thermal expansion of the upstream end (31) of the plug is closely matched to that of the cage (43) and seat ring (41) to enable the plug to properly close or seat when the valve is in the closed position. The plug body or spacer tube has an axial thermal expansion that closely matches that of the cage retainer, cage or valve body, depending upon the valve design.

L'invention concerne un ensemble de vanne pourvu d'un opercule de vanne à composants multiples (21). L'utilisation de plusieurs matériaux dans la construction de l'opercule de vanne permet de fournir différentes vitesse d'expansion thermique dans le sens axial et radial, si bien que l'opercule de vanne possède des caractéristiques d'expansion thermique qui correspondent étroitement à celles des composants avec lesquels il coopère. Plus précisément, l'expansion thermique radiale de l'extrémité aval (19) de l'opercule correspond étroitement à celle du composant de retenue (36) qui reçoit l'extrémité aval de l'opercule. L'expansion thermique radiale de l'extrémité amont (31) de l'opercule correspond étroitement à celle de la cage (43) et de la bague de siège (41) afin de permettre à l'opercule de se fermer ou de se placer correctement lorsque la vanne est en position fermée. Le corps d'opercule ou le tube espaceur présente une expansion thermique axiale qui correspond étroitement à celle de l'élément de retenue de cage, de la cage ou du corps de vanne, en fonction de la conception de la vanne.
