Transmitting data packets received from a non-constant delay medium includes storing the data packets in a buffer (Fig 2, Ref 48), determining a play-out schedule (Fig 2, Ref 78) for the data packets based on timing information in the data packets, and transmitting the data packets from the buffer in accordance with the play-out schedule. Two of the data packets may contain time stamps and the play-out schedule may be determined based on a difference between the time stamps.

La transmission des paquets de données reçus à partir d'un média à retard non constant consiste à mémoriser les paquets de données dans une mémoire tampon (figure 2, ref. 48), à déterminer un programme de lecture (figure 2, ref 78) pour les paquets de données en fonction des informations de temps dans les paquets de données. Cette transmission consiste également à transmettre les paquets de données à partir de la mémoire tampon en fonction du programme de lecture. Deux des paquets de données peuvent contenir des horodateurs et le programme de lecture peut être déterminé en fonction d'une différence entre les horodateurs.
