A method and apparatus of acquiring and tracking satellite positioning system signals in a highly parallel correlator is disclosed. A pseudo-random noise correlation operation is performed on an input satellite positioning system signal to provide a correlated output. The input satellite positioning system signal is input in parallel to a number of parallel correlators. Each parallel correlator contains a multi-correlator unit which processes and stores multiple phases of a correlated pseudo-random noise signal using common adder and multiplier circuitry.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil d'acquisition et de poursuite des signaux d'un système de positionnement par satellites utilisant un corrélateur hautement parallèle. On réalise une opération de corrélation de bruit pseudo-aléatoire sur un signal d'entrée de système de positionnement par satellites de manière à produire une sortie corrélée. Le signal d'entrée du système de positionnement par satellites est fourni en parallèle à plusieurs corrélateurs parallèles. Chaque corrélateur parallèle renferme une unité multi-corrélateur qui traite et enregistre plusieurs phases d'un signal de bruit pseudo-aléatoire corrélé en utilisant des circuits communs additionneur et multiplicateur.
