A method is described for erasing pixel cells in an ISA AC plasma display panel. The panel comprises a plurality of cell groups (10) aligned along horizontal and vertical dimensions, each cell group including an address cell, two vertical coupling cells, two horizontal coupling cells, and four pixel cells. Horizontal (20, 33, 24, 26) and vertical (12, 14, 16, 18) address lines are provided and intersect each address cell, and sustain lines (32, 34, 40, 42) are positioned on either side of the address lines and intersect adjacent series of pixel cells and coupling cells in each cell group. Intersections between sustain lines define pixel cells by type. The method comprises: energizing the address and sustain lines to turn ON at least a selected first type pixel cell in an addressed cell group, applying sustain signal pulses with at least one less sustain signal pulse being applied to vertical sustain lines which define the second type pixel cell in all cell groups; and applying to the sustain lines, a sustain potential to cause erasure of the selected first type pixels in the addressed cell groups.

Un procédé d'effacement de cellules pixels dans unn panneau d'affichage plasma à courant alternatif et ASI est décrit. Le panneau comprend une multiplicité de groupes de cellules (10) alignés sur des dimensions horizontale et verticale, chaque groupe contenant une cellule d'adresse, deux cellules de couplage vertical, deux cellules de couplage horizontal et quatre cellules pixels. Des lignes d'adresse horizontales (20, 33, 24, 26) et verticales (12, 14, 16, 18) sont ménagées et entrecroisent chaque cellule d'adresse, et des lignes de soutien (32, 34, 40, 42) sont placées de chaque côté des lignes d'adresse et entrecroisent des séries adjacentes de cellules pixels et de cellules de couplage dans chaque groupe de cellules. Des intersections entre les lignes de soutien définissent des cellules pixels selon le type. Le procédé consiste à: exciter les lignes d'adresse et de soutien afin de mettre en circuit au moins une cellule pixel de premier type choisie dans un groupe de cellules adressées; appliquer des impulsions de signal de soutien en appliquant au moins une impulsion de signal de soutien de moins à des lignes de soutien verticales qui définissent la cellule pixel de second type dans tous les groupes de cellules; et appliquer aux lignes de soutien un potentiel de soutien pour effectuer dans les groupes de cellules adressées l'effacement de pixels de premier type choisis.
