(EN)Method and apparatus for separating the isotopes of an element, in particular of a metal having a high atomic weight. The method comprises the preparation of a surface-active compound of said element, the dissolving of that compound in a liquid having a high surface tension, the injecting into the solution of a non-miscible substance so as to form a plurality of separation surfaces, and the recovering of the part of the solution next to the said separation surfaces. The apparatus comprises a set of tanks (1), means (2, 3) for blowing a gaz into said tanks for the purposes of producing foam, means (4, 5) for picking-up the foam and transferring it into another tank located downstream and means (6) for transferring part of the liquid from one tank into another tank located up-stream. Application to the isotopic separation of uranium.
(FR)Un procede et appareil pour la separation des isotopes d"un corps et notamment d"un metal lourd. Le procede comprend la formation d"un compose tensio-actif dudit corps, la dissolution de ce compose dans un liquide a forte tension superficielle, l"injection d"un corps non miscible dans cette solution pour former une pluralite de surfaces de separation, et la recuperation de la fraction de la solution voisine desdites surfaces de separation. L"appareil comprend un ensemble de cuves (1), un moyen (2, 3) pour insuffler un gaz dans ces cuves pour produire de la mousse, un moyen (4, 5) pour recueillir la mousse et la transferer dans une cuve en aval et un moyen (6) pour transferer une partie du liquide d"une cuve dans une cuve situe en amont. Application a la separation isotopique de l"uranium.
