PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing rare earth carbonate fine particles excellent in dispersibility at a submicron level or less.

SOLUTION: A method for producing rare earth carbonate fine particles comprises preparing a reaction solution in which an alkyl dimethylamine oxide compound having a structure represented by the formula (1) or a methyl morpholine oxide compound is added to an aqueous solution containing a rare earth ion and an excess amount of urea relative to the rare earth ion in the amount of 10 to 200 mol% to the rare earth ion, and subjecting the reaction solution to a hydrothermal treatment. In the formula, R represents an alkyl group of C1 to C14.

【課題】サブミクロン以下で分散性に優れた希土類炭酸塩微粒子の製造方法を提供する。
【解決手段】希土類炭酸塩微粒子の製造方法であって、希土類イオンと前記希土類イオンに対して過剰量の尿素とを含む水溶液に、下記式(1)で表される構造を有するアルキルジメチルアミンオキシド化合物、又は、メチルモルホリンオキシド化合物が、前記希土類イオンに対して10〜200mol%の添加量となるように添加された反応溶液を作製し、前記反応溶液を水熱処理することにより、希土類炭酸塩微粒子を製造する希土類炭酸塩微粒子の製造方法。

(但し、RはC1〜C14のアルキル基を表す。)
