PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifreezing liquid which is used as for example, a solution for preservation of a biological material at low temperatures and extracted from parenchyma cells of wooden parts, excluding flavonoid glycosides, and a vitrified liquid.
SOLUTION: An antifreezing liquid is prepared by dissolving 0.01-30 g/L of an overcooling accelerant containing tannin in water or an aqueous solution containing an additive for an application. A vitrified liquid comprises 0.01-30 g/L of the overcooling accelerant, 20-90 vol.% of one or more antifreezing agents and remaining, 10-80 vol.% of, water or an aqueous solution containing an additive for an application. Available tannins include hydrolysis type tannins, including 2,3,6-tri-O-galloyl-α,β-D-hamamelose, 1,2,6-tri-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose, 1,2,3,6-tetra-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose and tannic acid and other catechin type tannins.
