SOLUTION: A luminescent material expressed by experimental formula M'aM"b(Si1-zGez)c(Al, Ga, In)d(Sb, V, Nb, Ta)eO(a+b+2c+3d/2+5e/2-n/2)Xn:Eux, Ry has a long fluorescence lifetime. In the formula, M' is one or more kinds of elements selected from Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn; M" is one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Cd, Mn and Be; R is one or more kinds of elements selected from La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Bi, Sn and Sb; X is an ion selected from F, Cl and Br; 0.05a8; 0b5; 0<c10; 0d2; 0e2; 0n4; 0<X0.5; 0<y0.5; and 0z1.

【課題】温度安定性が改善され且つ関連した長蛍光寿命を有する発光体を提供する。
【解決手段】実験式、M’M”(Si1−zGe(Al,Ga,In)(Sb,V,Nb,Ta)(a+b+2c+3d/2+5e/2−n/2):Eu,R(式中、M’はCa、Sr、Ba及びZnからなる群から選択された一種以上の元素であり、M”はMg、Cd、Mn及びBeからなる群から選択された一種以上の元素であり、RはLa、Ce、Pr、Nd、Sm、Gd、Tb、Dy、Ho、Er、Tm、Yb、Lu、Bi、Sn及びSbからなる群から選択された一種以上の元素であり、XはF、Cl、Brからなる群から選択されたイオン)で表される発光体により、長蛍光寿命を得るようにした。(ここで、0.05≦a≦8、0≦b≦5、0<c≦10、0≦d≦2、0≦e≦2、0≦n≦4、O<X≦0.5、0<y≦0.5、O≦z≦1である。)
