PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-axis oscillating type ultrasonic probe which ensures a hermetically sealing degree and absorption of unnecessary ultrasound while working processes are reduced and shows an excellent operability while the weight is reduced.

SOLUTION: The short-axis oscillating type ultrasonic probe mechanically scans the ultrasound transmitted to and received from an ultrasonic transducing surface of a group of piezoelectric elements in the direction of the short axis by providing the group of piezoelectric elements which are arrayed in the longitudinal direction and have an acoustic lens on a rotation supporting table and by housing the rotation supporting table in a hermetically sealing container which rotates and oscillates the rotation supporting table in the direction of the short axis of the group of piezoelectric elements and has a means for absorbing the unnecessary ultrasound propagated in the longitudinal direction between the ultrasonic transducing surface and the inner periphery of the hermetically sealing container by filling with a liquid as an acoustic medium in the hermetically sealing container. The means for absorbing unnecessary ultrasound is constituted by having protrusions on both end sides of the longitudinal direction of the acoustic lens.

【目的】作業工程を少なくして密閉度及び不要超音波の吸収を確実にし、さらには重量を小さくして操作性を良好にした短軸遥動型超音波探触子を提供する。
【構成】長軸方向に並べられて超音波送受波面に音響レンズを有する圧電素子群を回転保持台上に設けて、前記圧電素子群の短軸方向に前記回転保持台を回転遥動する密閉容器内に収容し、前記圧電素子群の超音波送受波面から送受波される超音波を前記短軸方向に機械的に走査するとともに、前記密閉容器内に音響媒質としての液体を充填して、前記超音波送受波面と前記密閉容器の内周表面との間を長軸方向に伝播する不要超音波の吸収手段を有する短軸遥動型超音波探触子において、前記不要超音波の吸収手段として、前記長軸方向となる前記音響レンズの両端側に突出部を設けた構成とする。
