(EN) PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel compound comprising a specific amine, a liquid at normal temperature and not decreasing in emulsifying ability to asphalt and useful for an asphalt emulsifier, a urethane catalyst, a chelating agent, a raw material for surfactants, a floatation reagent, a fiber-softening and finishing agent, etc.
SOLUTION: This polyamine is a compound expressed by formula I [R is an 8-22C hydrocarbon; (x) is 1-5; (y) and (z) are each 0-5], e.g. stearyltetramine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (e.g. N-myristyl-N-aminopropylpropylenediamine, etc.), or formula III [(m) is 1-3] (e.g. myristylpropylenediamine, etc.), with acrylonitrile to cyanoethylate the compound of formula II or III, successively carrying out a hydrogen addition reaction at a temp. of preferably 100-160C. It is preferable to use 0.2-3 mole of acrylonitrile for 1 mole of the compound of formula II on 1.4-(m+2) mole of acrylonitrile to 1 mole of the compound of formula III.
