PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict wearing of a seal member and attain a long life of gas compressing expansion machine by a method wherein there are provided a second seal member having a higher sealing characteristic against a flow in a direction from a working chamber to a driving chamber than that for the flow opposite to the former flow and a plenum chamber between the second seal member and the intermediate chamber.

SOLUTION: Since the second seal member 93 is made such that a higher sealing characteristic of flow in a direction from a working chamber 21 to a crank chamber 12 than a sealing characteristic of flow opposite to the former flow is set, oil 10 flowed from the crank chamber 12 is held in a plenum chamber 94. In addition, an intermediate chamber 92 is arranged between the plenum chamber 94 and a first seal member 91, the oil 10 stored in the plenum chamber 94 is not directly splashed to the first seal member 91 as a piston rod 22 is reciprocated and its volume more than that required is supplied to the first seal member 91 so as to prevent the oil from being flowed into the working chamber 21. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to suppress wearing of the first seal member 91 and attain a long life of the device.

【課題】 長期間に亘りロッドシール部材の潤滑性を保
持しシール部材の摩耗を極力抑制して装置の長寿命化を
図る。


【解決手段】 前記ロッドシール装置8、9は、前記
駆動室から作動室へ向かう方向の流れに対してシール性
がその逆の流れに対するシール性よりも高い第1シール
部材91と、該第1シール部材91の駆動室12側に設
けられ、ロッド軸方向の寸法がロッド22のストローク
より短く設定されている中間室92と、該中間室92の
駆動室12側に設けられ、作動室21から駆動室12へ
向かう方向の流れに対してシール性がその逆の流れに対
するシール性よりも高い第2シール部材93と、該第2
シール部材93と中間室92との間に設けられ、駆動室
12からの潤滑油を保持する前室94と、を具備してい
る。
