In a blade contact for electric plugs with a strip-like contact component, a supporting body securable to the plug casing and with crimping attachments for securing an electrical conductor and its insulation to the blade contact, the support can be made more secure and the current flow improved while reducing manufacturing effort for this purpose one uses a sheet-metal blank (7) with a substantially rectangular section (8) extending over parts of its length to form the contact (3) and tabs (9) extending from the section (8) on either side to form the support (4) and tabs (10, 11) in line with the section (8) and projecting beyond it laterally to form crimping attachments (5, 6), which is folded in by 180 DEG on itself in plane-parallel fashion along a shared fold line (129) essentially over the axial length of the section (8) forming the contact (3) and the tabs (9) and the tabs (9) of which are bent back outwards, while the tabs (10, 11) for the crimping attachments (5, 6) run obliquely outwards or at a distance parallel to the plane of the fold line (12).
