Each of the detector assemblies (14a, 14b) receives a portion of the light emission and feeds such portion to a detector (14a, 14b). Each of the detectors (14a, 14b) detects the existence of light emissions in one of a plurality of spectral ranges and feeds that information to processing circuitry to provide data for determining the presence of a specific specimen substance(s) or constituent(s) based upon the detected luminescence.

The invention relates to studying and analyzing a physical state of irregular shaped objects with the aid of optical means, in particular, to configurating such objects as fired bullets and shells. The essence of the invention is in positioning and displacing an optical system in respect to the object, the observation axis thereof being perpendicular to the optical axis of the system, and in forming a series of images making it possible to configurate the object. The displacement of the optical system accompanied by the formation of successive images is repeated until an object plane of said optical system moves outside the object. Each point of a resulting image is placed at a distance from the object plane which is less than the depth resolution and for this reason the object image at each point is optimum, making it possible to accurately configurate an object with an irregular shape like a shell or bullet and to determine characteristic features of the objects accordingly for needs of forensic ballistics.

Thus, the circuit breaker (9) has the advantage of reduced cost and increased ease of manufacturability since a common cassette (16) is used.
