The invention discloses a process for producing coatings of various oxides by using the sol-gel method and the technics of immersion and spraying on silver coatings and substrates. Said process provides for the preparation of coatings of various compositions, vitreous or polycrystalline, and which have an excellent homogeneity, high adherence and good mechanical and thermal compatibility with the metal substrate. Said coatings result in an efficient barrier against dry oxidation at high temperature. It is a simple and economical process which is applicable to multiple forms and sizes of substrates, which may be used in multiple applications when highly reflectant materials are required such as solar reflectors, lighting screens, etc.

Chlorine dioxide is continuously produced at high efficiency in a single vessel process by reduction of chlorate ions with hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous acidic medium maintained at its boiling point under a subatmospheric pressure. The hydrogen peroxide is pre-mixed with at least a portion of the aqueous chlorate solution feed or the sulfuric acid feed or a mixture thereof. By pre-mixing the hydrogen peroxide feed, the occasional decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and the resulting foaming of the generator liquor is eliminated.

Reaction of Lignocellulosic material with Acetic Anhydride vapour greatly improves dimensional stability and resistance to biological attack and is according to this, invention made in the absence of any co-solvent or added catalyst in a simple way, very speedily with optimization of raw material feed and without the need for distillation/rectification. Partially dried or dry Lignocellulosic material heated is treated with Acetic Anhydride vapour for very short period of time. The time being adapted to suit the material dimension. The material is reacted and dried with or without gas flow and the resultant material is then by sample volatile analysis given a yield factor to pre-determined weight gain. Acetic Acid is only removed and further treated by known Ketene for re-vaporization.

A fiber-reinforced concrete-like material product includes a plurality of fibers containing an effective amount of at least one antimicrobial agent to inhibit organisms and protect the concrete from biological attack. Preferably, the antimicrobial agents are added to the fibers prior to the fibers being dispersed in the concrete. Such a concrete product containing antimicrobial-enhanced fibers simultaneously inhibits organisms from biological attack, reduces plastic shrinkage cracking of the concrete and improve post-peak flexural strength of the concrete.

The radial breaker bars (38, 40) are curved so that the radial outward ends curve away from the direction of rotation. The curved bars (38, 40) aid in the transportation of pulp from the inside diameter (52) to the outside diameter (54) of the breaker bar section (26) thereby improving feeding. Improved feeding allows higher loading and at the same time, improves fiber quality.
