FOR FURTHER ACTION: See Form PCT/ISA/220 as well as, where applicable, item 5 below.
This international search report has been prepared by this International Searching Authority and is transmitted to the applicant according to Article 18. A copy is being transmitted to the International Bureau.
It is also accompanied by a copy of each prior art document cited in this report.
1. Basis of the report
a. With regard to the language, the international search was carried out on the basis of:
the international application in the language in which it was filed.
a translation of the international application into                                          which is the language of a translation furnished for the purposes of international search (Rules 12.3(a) and 23.1(b)).

c.
With regard to any nucleotide and/or amino acid sequence disclosed in the international application, the international search was carried out on the basis of a sequence listing:
2. Certain claims were found unsearchable
3. Unity of invention is lacking
This International Searching Authority found multiple inventions in this international application, as follows:
1. claims: 1-13(completely); 92, 93(partially)
Document us2005/0014607 (D1), cited in the International Search Report, discloses an exercise device, comprising: a rigid rod 1 having a first end 2, a second end 5, a length, and an outer diameter, wherein the length is at least four times the outer diameter; a base 2 coupled to the first end of the rigid rod; at least one load sensor 6 inside the base or the rigid rod, the at least one load sensor for detecting a longitudinal force applied to the exercise device, wherein the longitudinal force applied to the exercise device comprises (i) a compressive longitudinal force; and a processor 9B coupled to the at least one load sensor, the processor configured to execute one or more machine-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: obtain, from the at least one load sensor or from an intervening component, a signal indicating a magnitude of the longitudinal force applied to the exercise device, and provide, to a display device 8, information about the longitudinal force applied to the exercise device. The subject-matter of independent claim 1 is known from D1, the dependent claims do not have any common or corresponding inventive feature, they are not so linked as to form a single general inventive concept, and thus lack unity a posteriori (Article 17, Rule 13 and Rule 40 PCT, Guidelines 10.04 PCT). This application contains the following groups of inventions: Claims 1-13 and 90-91 The subject-matter of the claims 2, 3 and 6-13 relates to the shape and the material of the rod, to provide space in the rod for the sensor or a piston with a proper stiffness of the exercise device, thereby providing a compact and robust exercise device.
2. claims: 1, 14-17(completely); 92, 93(partially)
The subject-matter of the claims 14-17 relates to the sensor and the signals from the sensors, to improve the quality of the measurement. Specific material or size requirements of the rod or equivalent features are not comprised in the claims 14-17.
3. claims: 1, 18-24(completely); 92, 93(partially)
The subject-matter of the claims 18 and 20 relates to attachment means for the rod, to improve the range of exercises of the exercise device. Specific material or size requirements of the rod, sensors or equivalent features are not comprised in the claims 18-24.
4. claims: 1, 25-91(completely); 92, 93(partially)
The subject-matter of the claims 25,30,43,53 and 68 relates to indicator means for the rod, to improve the handling of the exercise device. Specific material or size requirements of the rod, sensors, attachment means or equivalent features are not comprised in the claims 25,30,43,53 and 68.
1.
As all required additional search fees were timely paid by the applicant, this international search report covers all searchable claims.
2.
As all searchable claims could be searched without effort justifying additional fees, this Authority did not invite payment of additional fees.
3.
As only some of the required additional search fees were timely paid by the applicant, this international search report covers only those claims for which fees were paid, specifically claims Nos.:
4.
No required additional search fees were timely paid by the applicant. Consequently, this international search report is restricted to the invention first mentioned in the claims; it is covered by claims Nos.: 1-13(completely); 92, 93(partially)
Remark on Protest
The additional search fees were accompanied by the applicant’s protest and, where applicable, the payment of a protest fee.
The additional search fees were accompanied by the applicant’s protest but the applicable protest fee was not paid within the time limit specified in the invitation.
No protest accompanied the payment of additional search fees.
4. Title of the invention
The text is approved as submitted by the applicant.
The text has been established by this Authority to read as follows:
5. Abstract
The text is approved as submitted by the applicant.
The text has been established, according to Rule 38.2, by this Authority as it appears in Box No. IV. The applicant may, within one month from the date of mailing of this international search report, submit comments to this Authority.
