Abstract:
A brightness adjustment method and apparatus for an RGBW liquid crystal display apparatus. A grayscale brightness look-up table for an RGBW liquid crystal display apparatus is generated by means of a first electro-optical transfer function and a second electro-optical transfer function, such that in the grayscale brightness look-up table, a relationship between a brightness and a grayscale within an interval from grayscale 0 to a grayscale threshold value corresponds to the first electro-optical transfer function, and a relationship between the brightness and a grayscale within an interval from the grayscale threshold value to grayscale 255 corresponds to the second electro-optical transfer function, wherein the grayscale threshold value is a grayscale value corresponding to a first brightness threshold value; within an interval from a second brightness threshold value to the maximum brightness value, the curve slope of the second electro-optical transfer function is greater than the curve slope of the first electro-optical transfer function; and the second brightness threshold value is greater than the first brightness threshold value. The relatively poor dark state characteristic of a liquid crystal display apparatus itself and the feature of the maximum brightness value of an RGBW liquid crystal display apparatus being relatively high can be both taken into consideration, thereby improving the detail presentation capability of the RGBW liquid crystal display apparatus for a high grayscale picture.
