Claims

1. A method for canceling, by a user equipment, UE, a triggered proximity-based services, ProSe, buffer status report, BSR, in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

triggering, by the UE, at least one ProSe BSR; and

canceling, by the UE, all triggered ProSe BSRs if at least one device-to-device, D2D, scheduling assignment for a D2D scheduling period can accommodate all pending data available for D2D transmission.

  2. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one ProSe BSR is used to provide the network with information about amount of data available for the D2D transmission.
  3. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one ProSe BSR is triggered if D2D data, for a D2D logical channel, becomes available for D2D transmission in a radio link control, RLC, entity or in a packet data convergence protocol, PDCP, entity and either data belongs to the D2D logical channel with higher priority than priorities of logical channels which belong to any logical channel group, LCG, and for which the data is already available for transmission, or there is no data available for transmission for any of the logical channels.
  4. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one ProSe BSR is triggered if a first timer, for a regular ProSe BSR, expires and the UE has data available for D2D transmission for any of logical channels.
  5. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one ProSe BSR is triggered if a second timer, for a periodic ProSe BSR, expires.
  6. A user equipment, UE (900), configured to cancel a triggered proximity-based services, ProSe, buffer status report, BSR, in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a radio frequency, RF, unit (930) configured to transmit or receive a radio signal; and

a processor (910) coupled to the RF unit, and configured to:

trigger at least one ProSe BSR; and

cancel all triggered ProSe BSRs if at least one device-to-device, D2D, scheduling assignment for a D2D scheduling period can accommodate all pending data available for D2D transmission.

  7. The UE of claim 6, wherein the at least one ProSe BSR is used to provide the network with information about amount of data available for the D2D transmission.
