(EN) The present invention concerns a method for determining at least one regenerative relay node from among the relay nodes included in an optical transmission line between a transmitter node and a receiver note, the transmission line comprising a succession of links, each linking two successive nodes of the transmission line, the method comprising the steps consisting of identifying (20) a critical link by analysis of an optical power level of each of the links of the transmission line, determining (30), as a function of the critical link, at least one regenerative relay node within the end nodes delimiting transparent segments of an optimised succession of transparent segments among a plurality of possible successions of transparent segments for the transmission line, each transparent segment comprising at least one link or a plurality of successive links without regenerative relay nodes between the successive links, the transparent segment comprising the critical link in the optimised succession of transparent segments having a communication quality level greater than or equal to the communication quality levels of the transparent segments comprising the critical link in the possible successions of transparent segments.
