Title: BASE STATION POWER CONSERVATION VIA DEVICE OPERATION COORDINATION
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed to base station power conservation via device operation coordination. A base station (BS) may interact with user equipment (UE) within its cell. During interaction the BS may identify certain UEs based on operational characteristics of the UEs. For example, the BS may determine that certain UEs are Internet of Things (IoT) devices whose operation may conform to a predictable pattern that may be controlled by the BS. The BS may then perform various operations to coordinate the operation of the certain UE devices to propagate periods of wireless inactivity during which the BS may operate in a low power mode to conserve energy. The operations may include, for example, determining the wireless behavior of each certain UE, determining a pattern of operation for each certain UE and configuring each certain UE device based on the corresponding pattern of operation.
