WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. An apparatus comprising:
a seat, sized and shaped to be disposed within a burr hole, wherein at least a portion of the seat is deformable and operable to be press fit into the bun-hole;
at least one bridge extending from the seat; and
a collar coupled to the bridge and at least partially disposed within a space defined by an inner surface of the seat, wherein the collar defines a socket sized and shaped to retain an instrument immobilizer.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an outer perimeter of the seat is substantially circular.

3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the collar is a substantially circular ring.

4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the bridge spans the distance between the inner surface of the seat and an outer perimeter of the collar.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the collar is disposed below the seat.

6. An apparatus comprising:
a seat, sized and shaped to be disposed within a burr hole, wherein an inner surface of the seat defines an access lumen;
a collar coupled to the seat, wherein the collar extends radially inward from the inner surface of the seat into the access lumen; and
an instrument immobilizer coupled to the collar, wherein the instrument immobilizer substantially covers the access lumen.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the instrument immobilizer is flush with an upper surface around the burr hole or below the upper surface.

8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein a flange extends radially from the seat, and the flange is substantially adjacent to an end surface of the seat.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the flange extends around the seat.

10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the seat includes at least one snap fitting, and the instrument immobilizer is coupled to the collar with the at least one snap fitting.

11. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the seat includes threading along an outer perimeter of the seat, and the threading is self tapping.

12. An apparatus comprising:
a seat, dimensioned and configured to be disposed within a burr hole, wherein at least a portion of the seat defines an access lumen;
an instrument immobilizer coupled to the seat; and
wherein at least one of the seat or instrument immobilizer includes at least one socket, and the other of the instrument immobilizer or seat includes at least one projection, and the socket is dimensioned and configured to snugly receive the at least one projection and engage the instrument immobilizer to the seat.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection includes a snap fitting, and the snap fitting releasably couples the instrument immobilizer to the seat.

14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein at least one face of the instrument immobilizer is engaged to an end surface of the seat.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the end surface of the seat has an outer perimeter substantially corresponding to the outer perimeter of the instrument immobilizer.

16. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the seat includes threading along an outer perimeter of the seat, and the threading is self tapping.

17. A method of positioning an instrument immobilizer comprising:
coupling an instrument immobilizer to a collar of a seat, wherein an inner perimeter of the seat defines an access lumen and the collar extends radially inward into the access lumen, and the instrument immobilizer substantially covers the access lumen; and
disposing the seat within a burr hole, wherein the instrument immobilizer is flush with an upper surface around the burr hole or below the upper surface.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein coupling the instrument immobilizer to the collar of the seat includes snap fitting the instrument immobilizer to the collar.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein disposing the seat within a burr hole includes screwing the seat into the burr hole, and the outer perimeter of the seat includes threading.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein coupling the instrument immobilizer to the collar of the seat is performed after disposing the seat within the burr hole.

21. The method of claim 17, further comprising engaging a flange with an upper surface around the burr hole, wherein the flange extends radially from an outer perimeter of the seat.

22. A method of positioning an instrument immobilizer comprising:
coupling an instrument immobilizer to a seat, wherein the seat defines an access lumen;

disposing the seat within a burr hole, wherein the seat and the instrument immobilizer are flush with an upper surface around the burr hole or below the upper surface.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein coupling the instrument immobilizer to the seat includes snap fitting the instrument immobilizer to an end surface of the seat.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein coupling the instrument immobilizer to the seat includes disposing a post having a snap fitting within a socket dimensioned and configured to receive the snap fitting.

25. The method of claim 22, wherein disposing the seat within a burr hole includes screwing the seat into the burr hole, and the outer perimeter of the seat includes threading.

26. The method of claim 22, wherein coupling the instrument immobilizer to the seat is performed after disposing the seat within the burr hole.

27. The method of claim 22, wherein disposing the seat within the burr hole includes deforming the seat to fit within the burr hole and releasing the seat to expand and engage against a surface defining the burr hole.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein deforming the seat is performed without deforming the collar.

29. The method of claim 22, wherein disposing the seat within the burr hole includes coupling the seat to the surface defining the countersink.

30. The method of claim 22, wherein disposing the seat within the burr hole is performed prior to coupling the instrument immobilizer to the seat.

31. A method of positioning an instrument immobilizer comprising: disposing the instrument immobilizer within a collar coupled to a seat by a bridge; and
coupling the seat to a surface defining a countersink.

32. The method of positioning the instrument immobilizer of claim 31 , further comprising disposing an instrument within a passage of the instrument immobilizer

33. The method of positioning the instrument immobilizer of claim 32, further comprising:
advancing a first cover piece and a second cover piece toward the instrument; and
engaging the first cover piece and the second cover piece against the instrument to immobilize the instrument therebetween.

34. The method of positioning the instrument immobilizer of claim 31, wherein coupling the seat to the surface defining the countersink is performed prior to disposing the instrument immobilizer within the collar.

35. The method of positioning the instrument immobilizer of claim 31, further comprising cutting a countersink around the burr hole.
