Provided are: an optical compensation film having biaxial anisotropy, which can be produced at low cost by a coating method with a smaller number of steps and can be formed thinner in comparison to a multilayer film, while exhibiting solvent resistance and heat resistance with respect to a step for forming an alignment film; a method for producing this optical compensation film; and an electrode substrate which uses this optical compensation film. An optical compensation film (12) which contains at least one polyimide which contains at least one monomer unit (N) derived from an aromatic diamine having an -OCO- group and/or a -COO- group and at least one monomer unit (C) derived from an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. If x is the major axis direction of a polyimide molecule, which is a rod-like molecule, y is the direction perpendicular to the x-direction in a plane parallel to the film surface, z is the film thickness direction and nx, ny and nz are respectively the refractive indexes in the x-direction, the y-direction and the z-direction, nx > ny > nz is satisfied.

L'invention concerne la fourniture d'un film de compensation optique ayant une anisotropie biaxiale, qui peut être produit à bas coût par un procédé de revêtement avec un nombre d'étapes plus petit et peut être formé plus fin en comparaison à un film multicouche tout en présentant une résistance aux solvants et une résistance à la chaleur par rapport à une étape de formation d'un film d'alignement; et d'un procédé de production de ce film de compensation optique; et d'un substrat d'électrode qui utilise ce film de compensation optique. Un film de compensation optique (12) qui comprend au moins un polyimide qui contient au moins une unité monomère (N) dérivée d'une diamine aromatique ayant un groupe -OCO- et/ou un groupe -COO- et au moins une unité monomère (C) dérivée d'un dianhydride d'acide tétracarboxylique. Si x est la direction de grand axe d'une molécule de polyimide, qui est une molécule en forme de bâtonnet, y est la direction perpendiculaire à la direction x dans un plan parallèle à la surface de film, z est la direction d'épaisseur de film et nx, ny et nz sont respectivement les indices de réfraction dans la direction x, la direction y et la direction z, nx > ny > nz est satisfait.
