Disclosed are: a carbon nanotube composite structure, which comprises a plurality of carbon nanotube columnar structures on a base, and wherein the adhesion between the base and the carbon nanotube columnar structures is extremely high; and an adhesive member which comprises the carbon nanotube composite structure. Specifically disclosed is a carbon nanotube composite structure, which comprises a plurality of carbon nanotube columnar structures on a base, and which is characterized in that an intermediate layer is provided between the base and the carbon nanotube columnar structures, the intermediate layer has a thickness of 1.0 nm or more but less than 10 nm, and the adhesion between the base, which has been provided with the intermediate layer, and the carbon nanotube columnar structures is not less than 5 N/cm2.
