Provided is an electric double layer capacitor with a high withstand voltage, little degradation, and, in addition, excellent long-term reliability. An electrolyte for the electric double layer capacitor contains a solvent (I) for dissolution of an electrolyte salt and an electrolyte salt (II). The solvent (I) for dissolution of the electrolyte salt contains a sulfolane compound and a fluorine-containing chain ether. The electric double layer capacitor uses said electrolyte.

L'invention concerne un condensateur électrique bicouche caractérisé par une tension de tenue élevée, une faible dégradation et, de plus, une excellente fiabilité à long terme. Un électrolyte pour le condensateur électrique bicouche contient un solvant (I) destiné à la dissolution d'un sel d'électrolyte et un sel (II) d'électrolyte. Le solvant (I) de dissolution du sel d'électrolyte contient un composé sulfolane et un éther à chaîne fluorée. Le condensateur électrique bicouche utilise ledit électrolyte.
