Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent element provided with, at least, an anode, a light-emitting layer, an electron-transport band, and a cathode, in that order. The light-emitting layer includes a host and a dopant that exhibits fluorescence having a main peak wavelength no greater than 550 nm. The affinity Ad of the dopant is at least as great as the affinity Ah of the host, and the triplet energy ETd of the dopant is higher than the triplet energy ETh of the host. The electron-transport band is provided with a barrier layer adjacent to the light-emitting layer. The triplet energy ETb of the barrier layer is higher than ETh.

L'invention porte sur un élément électroluminescent organique comportant : au moins, une anode, une couche émettant de la lumière, une bande de transport d'électrons et une cathode, dans cet ordre. La couche émettant de la lumière comprend un hôte et un dopant présentant une fluorescence ayant une longueur d'onde de pic principal non supérieure à 550 nm. L'affinité Ad du dopant est au moins aussi importante que l'affinité Ah de l'hôte, et l'énergie en triplet ETd du dopant est supérieure à l'énergie en triplet ETh de l'hôte. La bande de transport d'électrons comporte une couche de barrière adjacente à la couche émettant de la lumière. L'énergie du triplet ETb de la couche de barrière est supérieure à ETh.
