Provided is a method for increasing the thickness of the secondary cell wall of a plant. A method for increasing the thickness of the secondary cell wall of a plant by using a tracheary element differentiation (TED)-associated protein or a C-terminal fragment of the same, which comprises constructing a transgenic (Tg) plant containing, in an expressible manner, a DNA encoding protein(s) selected from the group consisting of a combination of TED6 with TED7, a C-terminal fragment of TED6, a C-terminal fragment of TED7, and a combination of a C-terminal fragment of TED6 with a C-terminal fragment of TED7, and expressing said DNA in said plant; the Tg plant; and progeny, a cell, a tissue or a seed of the same.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant d'augmenter l'épaisseur de la paroi cellulaire secondaire (PCS) d'une plante. Le procédé d'augmentation de la paroi cellulaire secondaire d'une plante utilise une protéine associée à la différenciation des trachéides (TED) ou un fragment de terminaison C de celle-ci, et consiste à construire une plante transgénique (Tg) contenant, de manière expressible, un ADN codant une ou plusieurs protéines choisies dans le groupe constitué par une association de TED6 et TED7, un fragment de terminaison C de TED6, un fragment de terminaison C de TED7, et une association d'un fragment de terminaison C de TED6 avec un fragment de terminaison C de TED7, et à exprimer ledit ADN dans ladite plante ; la plante Tg plant ; et un descendant, une cellule, un tissu ou une graine associés.
