The size of a backlight device, including an inverter circuit board, is reduced as a whole and cost is reduced. The backlight device is provided with a lamp (20a); an inverter circuit for generating a drive voltage for the lamp (20a) from an inputted voltage; a socket section (26a), which holds an end section of the lamp (20a) and applies the drive voltage to an electrode lead (28a) led out from the end section of the lamp (20a); and a metal chassis (31). The socket section (26a) is provided with a dielectric material (32) between a flat surface section of the electrode lead (28a) of the lamp (20a) and the metal chassis (31). The electrode lead (28a), the dielectric material (32) and the metal chassis (31) function as a resonant capacitor of an output transformer of the inverter circuit.

La taille du dispositif de rétro-éclairage faisant l'objet de la présente invention, comprenant une carte de circuit d'onduleur, est réduite dans son entier, et le coût est réduit. L'invention concerne un dispositif de rétro-éclairage qui comporte une lampe (20a) ; un circuit d'onduleur pour générer une tension de commande pour la lampe (20a) à partir d'une tension entrée ; une section de douille (26a), qui maintient une section d'extrémité de la lampe (20a) et qui applique la tension de commande à un conducteur d'électrode (28a) sortant de la section d'extrémité de la lampe (20a) ; et un châssis métallique (31). La section de douille (26a) comporte un matériau diélectrique (32) entre une section de surface plane du conducteur d'électrode (28a) de la lampe (20a) et le châssis métallique (31). Le conducteur d'électrode (28a), le matériau diélectrique (32) et le châssis métallique (31) servent de condensateur résonant d'un transformateur de sortie du circuit d'onduleur.
