A gateway device is provided to connect an IEEE1394 network with an IP network, wherein a player device connected with the IP network automatically detects and operates an AV device connected with the IEEE1394 network and the player device can watch and hear contents stored in the AV device. The gateway device connects a network with which an AV/C installed IEEE1394 device is connected with a network with which a player device in conformity of the UPnP is connected; and is provided with a converting means for converting plug-and-play processing of the IEEE1394 device to each step of plug-and-play of the UPnP, a converting means for converting an action of the UPnP AV to an AV/C command of the IEEE1394 device, and a stream transfer means for transferring stream data transmitted from the IEEE1394 to the IP network.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de passerelle servant à connecter un réseau IEEE1394 doté d'un réseau IP, dans lequel le dispositif de lecture connecté au réseau IP détecte automatiquement et exploite un dispositif AV connecté au même réseau IEEE1394. Dans cette même invention, le dispositif de lecture peut regarder et entendre les contenus stockés dans le dispositif AV. Le dispositif de passerelle connecte un réseau avec lequel un dispositif IEEE1394 doté d'un AV/C est connecté à un réseau dans lequel un dispositif de lecture conforme au UpnP est connecté. Il est en outre doté de moyens de conversion destinés à convertir le traitement plug-and-play du dispositif IEEE1394 à chaque étape du plug-and-play du UpnP, de moyens de conversion servant à convertir une action du UpnP AV en une commande AV/C du dispositif IEEE1394, et de moyens de transfert de flux permettant de transférer des données de flux transmises à partir du IEEE1394 vers le réseau IP.
