A method for manufacturing a film-electrode bonded body is provided with a reinforcing member arranging step wherein reinforcing members (104A, 104B) having frame sections surrounding an opening are arranged on a polyelectrolyte film (102) so that the frame sections cover a peripheral section of at least one plane of the polyelectrolyte film; a catalytic layer applying step wherein the entire planes of the polyelectrolyte film (102) exposed from at least the opening of the reinforcing members (104A, 104B) are coated with catalytic layers (109A, 109B); and a gas diffusion layer arranging step wherein gas diffusion layers (114A, 114B) are arranged to cover the catalytic layers (109A, 109B).
