A wear resistant member comprised of silicon nitride characterized in that it consists of a silicon nitride sintering compact comprising 2 to 4 mass%, in terms of oxide, of rare earth element as a sintering auxiliary agent, 2 to 6 mass%, in terms of oxide, of Al component and 2 to 7 mass% of silicon carbide, which sintering compact has a porosity of 1% or less, a three-point bending strength of 800 to 1000 MPa and a fracture toughness of 5.7 to 6.5 MPa·m1/2. Under these conditions, there can be provided a wear resistant member comprised of silicon nitride which even in the preparation from cheap silicon nitride powder produced by metal nitriding process, exhibits a mechanical strength, excellent wear resistance and rolling life being identical with or superior to those of conventional silicon nitride sintering compact and which furthermore excels in workability, and can be provided a process for producing the same.

L'invention se rapporte à un élément résistant à l'usure constitué de nitrure de silicium et caractérisé par le fait qu'il contient une briquette de frittage de nitrure de silicium comprenant 2 à 4 % en poids, en termes d'oxyde, d'un métal du groupe des terres rares en tant qu'agent auxiliaire de frittage, 2 à 6 % en poids, en termes d'oxyde, de composant Al et 2 à 7 % en poids de carbure de silicium, la briquette de frittage présentant une porosité de 1 % ou moins, une résistance à la flexion en trois points de 800 à 1000 Mpa et une ténacité de 5,7 à 6,5 Mpa.m1/2. Dans ces conditions, il est possible d'obtenir un élément résistant à l'usure constitué de nitrure de silicium qui, même dans la préparation à partir de poudre de nitrure de silicium bon marché produite au moyen d'un procédé de nitruration métallique, présente une résistance mécanique, une excellente résistance à l'usure et une durée de vie au moins identique à celle des briquettes de frittage de nitrure de silicium habituelles, et qui présente aussi une excellente aptitude au façonnage. L'invention porte aussi sur un procédé de fabrication associé.

 焼結助剤として希土類元素を酸化物に換算して2~4質量%,Al成分を酸化物換算で2~6質量%,炭化けい素を2~7質量%含有し、気孔率が1%以下であり、3点曲げ強度が800~1000MPaであり、破壊靭性値が5.7~6.5MPa・m1/2である窒化けい素焼結体から成ることを特徴とする窒化けい素製耐摩耗性部材である。上記構成によれば、金属窒化法で製造された安価な窒化けい素粉末を使用して調製した場合においても、従来の窒化けい素焼結体と同等以上の機械的強度、優れた耐摩耗性、転がり寿命特性を有し、しかも加工性に優れた窒化けい素製耐摩耗製部材およびその製造方法を提供することができる。
