The invention aims at providing a lubricating oil composition which exhibits excellent low-temperature viscosity characteristics when used as automobile or industrial engine oil, gear oil, shock absorber oil, hydraulic oil, or the like, and an internal combustion engine oil comprising the composition. The lubricating oil composition comprises a lube base oil (A) which exhibits a kinematic viscosity of 1 to 50mm2/s at 100°C and a viscosity index of 80 or above, an ethylene/propylene copolymer (B) having the following characteristics (B1) to (B4), and, if necessary, a pour-point depressant (C): (B1) the ethylene content lies within the range of 30 to 75 % by weight, (B2) the limiting viscosity [&eegr;] lies within the range of 1.3 to 2.0dl/g, (B3) the Mw/Mn ratio is 2.4 or below, and (B4) the melting point is 30°C or below as determined by DSC.

L'invention vise à mettre en oeuvre une composition d'huile de lubrification présentant d'excellentes caractéristiques de viscosité à basse température lorsqu'elle est employée en tant qu'huile de moteur, huile de boîte, huile d'absorption de chocs, huile hydraulique et similaires, ainsi qu'une huile de moteur à combustion interne contenant ladite composition. Ladite composition d'huile de lubrification contient une huile de base de lubrification (A) présentant une viscosité cinématique de 1 à 50 mm2/s à 100 °C et un indice de viscosité de 80 ou plus ; un copolymère d'éthylène/propylène (B) présentant les caractéristiques suivantes : (B1) le contenu en éthylène est de 30 à 75 % en poids, (B2) la viscosité intrinsèque [$g(h)] est de 1,3 à 2,0 dl/g, (B3) le rapport Mw/Mn est de 2,4 ou moins, et (B4) le point d'ébullition déterminé par DSC est de 30 °C ou moins ; et, (C) éventuellement un agent d'amélioration du point d'écoulement.

本発明は自動車用・産業用エンジン油、ギヤー油、ショックアブソーバー油、油圧油などとして低温粘度特性に優れた潤滑油組成物および該組成物からなる内燃機関用潤滑油を提供することを目的とするものであって、潤滑油組成物は、100℃における動粘度が1~50mm2/sで、かつ粘度指数が80以上の潤滑油基剤(A)と、下記(B1)~(B4)の特性を有するエチレン・プロピレン共重合体(B)と、必要に応じて流動点降下剤(C)とからなる。(B1)エチレン含量が30~75重量%の範囲にある(B2)極限粘度[η]が1.3~2.0dl/gの範囲にある(B3)Mw/Mnが2.4以下である(B4)DSCで測定した融点が30℃以下である。
