An optical head used for a recording medium having at least two tracks with different reflectances, comprising: a light receiving means having a plurality of light receiving areas for receiving a plurality of first reflected light fluxes, in which the zero-order component and the first-order component of a diffraction light diffracted by tracks overlap each other, to produce a light quantity signal according to the light quantity of the plurality of first reflection light fluxes, and non-light receiving areas that exist between a plurality of light receiving areas and do not receive second reflection light fluxes containing a zero-order component only, the distance between a plurality of light receiving areas being longer than the width of a non-light receiving areas with respect to a first direction connecting a plurality of light receiving areas in the light receiving means; and a tracking error signal producing means for producing a tracking error signal based on a light-quantity signal.

L'invention concerne une tête optique destinée à être utilisée avec un support d'enregistrement possédant au moins deux pistes présentant des facteurs de réflexion différents. Cette tête optique comprend un moyen de réception de lumière qui possède une pluralité de zones réceptrices de lumière destinées à recevoir une pluralité de premiers flux lumineux réfléchis, la composante d'ordre zéro et la composante de premier ordre d'une lumière de diffraction diffractée par des pistes se chevauchant, de façon à produire un signal de quantité de lumière en fonction de la quantité de lumière de la pluralité de premiers flux lumineux de réflexion. Ledit moyen de réception de lumière possède par ailleurs des zones non réceptrices de lumière qui sont présentes entre des zones réceptrices de lumière et qui ne reçoivent pas des seconds flux lumineux de réflexion contenant uniquement une composante d'ordre zéro, la distance entre des zones réceptrices de lumière étant supérieure à la largeur d'une zone non réceptrice de lumière, par rapport à une première direction reliant une pluralité de zones réceptrices de lumière dans le moyen de réception de lumière. La tête optique selon l'invention comprend en outre un moyen générateur de signal d'erreur de piste servant à produire un signal d'erreur de piste d'après un signal de quantité de lumière.
