The present invention relates to a novel amino acid dehydrogenase, DNA encoding the enzyme, and a transformant having the DNA introduced therein. The present invention also relates to a process for producing an L-amino acid, 2-oxo acid or D-amino acid, which includes allowing the amino acid dehydrogenase or a microorganism or transformant capable of producing the enzyme to act on a substrate compound. The amino acid dehydrogenase has good reactivity even with an amino acid or a 2-oxo acid each having a bulky side chain such as an aromatic-ring-containing group, which acids are poorly reactive with conventional amino acid dehydrogenases. The amino acid dehydrogenase enables the inexpensive and highly efficient production of a useful optically active amino acid.

L'invention porte sur : une nouvelle déshydrogénase d'acides aminés ; un ADN codant pour l'enzyme ; un agent de transformation ayant l'ADN introduit dans celui-ci ; et un procédé pour produire un acide aminé L, un acide 2-oxo ou un acide aminé D, qui est caractérisé en ce qu'il permet à la déshydrogénase d'acides aminés ou à un microorganisme ou à un agent de transformation capable de produire l'enzyme d'agir sur un composé substrat. La déshydrogénase d'acides aminés a une bonne réactivité avec un acide aminé ou un acide 2-oxo ayant chacun une chaîne latérale volumineuse telle qu'un groupe contenant un noyau aromatique (un acide aminé ou un acide 2-oxo chacun ayant une chaîne latérale volumineuse sont médiocrement réactifs avec les déshydrogénases d'acides aminés classiques). La déshydrogénase d'acides aminés permet la production peu coûteuse et à haut rendement d'un acide aminé optiquement actif utile.
