提供一种高可靠性的有机电致发光元件,其抑制由在金属表面上生成的表面等离激元所导致的光损失,提高向元件外部的光取出效率,并在元件内不倾向于短路。此有机电致发光元件提供有:金属层(1),其在表面中具有由纳米粒子排列结构体(6)形成的纳米尺寸的凹/凸,所述纳米粒子排列结构体中纳米粒子(6a)以平面状排列;和有机层(3),其设置在金属层(1)的凹/凸表面上,并且由包括发光层(31)在内的多个层构成。在有机层(3)中的各层之间的界面具有比金属层的凹/凸表面平坦的表面。
