This invention refers to the internal combus¬tion engines. The internal combustion engine comprises first and second cylindres 12 and 14, whereas the first cylinder 12 has more work volume, than the second cylinder 14 and is made in the head of the first cylinder. The first and the second pistons 16 and 18 are mounted respectively in the first and second cylinders with the possibility of reciprocating motion, whereas the second piston is made in the form of a protrusion on the bottom of the first piston 16. In the second piston 18 a combustion chamber 20 is made with the opening 44 for air, connecting it with the first cylinder and the opening 40, connecting with the second cylinder, in the engine there is provided an inlet means 25 for feeding the air to the first cylinder 12 at inlet stroke of the first piston 16, and also an inlet means for feeding the fuel to the second cylinder 14. Between the first and the second cy¬linders there is a passage, providing the air dis¬placement from the first cylinder 12 to the second 14 passing the combustion chamber for gas displa¬cement from the second cylinder 14 to the com¬bustion chamber 20, by displacement at the length of the given angle in respect of the piston cylinders. There is provided an additional means for air dis¬placement regulation. 8 fig.

A method is provided for preparing a highly purified lysozyme dimer product which comprises dimerizing the lysozyme monomer with a suberimidate coupling reagent in a buffer solution adjusted to pH 10, stopping the dimerization at a given point by lowering the pH to 7 via addition of HCl or other suitable acid solution, and purifying the dimeric lysozyme by a series of elution steps carried out using ion exchange resin column chromatography. Monomeric lysozyme remaining undimerized by the initial dimerization step is recycled into the process in order to increase yield. The present system is advantageous in that large amounts of purified lysozyme dimer can be prepared efficiently and relatively inexpensively, and the lysozyme dimer so produced is useful in treating viral and/or bacterial diseases without causing the cytotoxic effects associated with the lysozyme monomer.
