PURPOSE: A robot cleaner, a terminal device, and a remote control system of the robot cleaner and a method thereof are provided to remotely control the robot cleaner and to check the condition of the robot cleaner in real time. CONSTITUTION: A robot cleaner comprises a communications unit, a control unit, and an image detecting unit. The communication unit receives a control signal from an external terminal device and transmits an answer signal with respect to the control signal. The control unit controls the robot cleaner according to the control signal and generates the answer signal according to the control result. The control unit extracts order for starting or stopping cleaning from the control signal. The image detecting unit films surroundings and generates information of the image. 본 발명의 실시 예들은, 단말 장치와 로봇 청소기를 네트워크를 통해 연결함으로써 로봇 청소기를 더욱 다양한 방식으로 제어 가능하게 한다. 또, 본 발명의 실시 예들은, 외부에서 집안의 상황을 실시간으로 확인할 수 있도록 하고, 로봇 청소기의 상태에 따라 신속한 대처가 가능하도록 한다. 로봇 청소기는, 스스로 또는 단말 장치에 의해 원격 제어에 의해 자동 청소, 수동 청소, 예약 청소, 청소 모드 변경 등을 수행할 수 있다. 또, 로봇 청소기는, 청소 중에 배터리의 상태를 수시로 확인하여 충전 동작을 수행하고, 상태 정보를 실시간으로 단말 장치에 전송할 수 있다.
