PURPOSE: A flash memory including a log block of a flexible size according to partition and memory system using the same are provided to compartmentalize a flash memory into a plurality of partitions. CONSTITUTION: An FTL(Flash Translation Layer) receives a logical address from a file system. The FTL converts the logical address into a physical address. A flash memory(100) receives a converted physical address. The flash memory is divided into a plurality of partitions. 파티션별로 플렉시블한 크기의 로그블록을 가지는 플래시 메모리 및 메모리시스템이 개시된다. 메모리 시스템은 파일 시스템과, 파일 시스템으로부터 논리적어드레스를 입력받고, 논리적 어드레스를 물리적 어드레스로 변환하는 플래시 메모리 변환 레이어와, 변환된 물리적 어드레스를 입력받는 플래시 메모리를 포함하며,플래시 메모리는, 복수의 파티션들에 의해 분할되며, 분할된 각 파티션은 데이터 저장을 위한 데이터 블록 영역과 상기 데이터 블록 영역의 중복쓰기를 위한 로그블록 영역을 각각 가짐으로써, 메모리 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.
