The invention relates to the field of a power battery system, in particular to a switch control method for a relay of a battery management system. The switch control method comprises the following steps of S1, setting a switch threshold value DTh of the relay in advance; S2, detecting a current switch state of the relay, wherein the current switch state is expressed with H; S3, performing sampling N periods according to a certain sampling period T to acquire sampling values D, comparing the sampling values D with the switch threshold value DTh one by one, counting a counter one by one when a comparison result is used for triggering the change of the switch state H of the relay, and clearing the counter when the comparison result is not used for triggering the change of the switch state H of the relay; and S4, changing the current switch state of the relay when the sampling value D of the last period is compared and the counter is not cleared, and maintaining the current switch state of the relay if the counter is zero. By the switch control method, ineffective operation of the relay can be effectively reduced, the lifetime of the relay is prolonged, and the maintenance cost of the battery management system (BMS) is reduced.
