Claims

1. Coupling part with integrated aerosol generator for use in a breathing circuit, comprising:

a housing (10) enclosing a cavity (V), having

a first opening (110) at a first end (11) prepared for direct or indirect connection to a ventilator (300),

a second opening (120) at a second end (12) which is suitable for direct or indirect connection to a patient line or an endotracheal tube (400), characterised in that

an aerosol generator (20) is integrated in one side of the housing and is suitable for delivering an aerosolised liquid.

2. Coupling part as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the aerosol generator (20) comprises a piezoceramic.

3. Coupling part as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the aerosol generator (20) comprises a mesh membrane.

4. Coupling part as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the aerosol generator (20) has a cross section which corresponds in shape and size to a cross section of the cavity

(V).

5. Coupling member as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that an additional volume (V’), construction-conditioned by addition of the aerosol generator, is less than or equal to about 1/10 of the total volume of the cavity (V).

6. Coupling part as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that an additional volume (V’), construction-conditioned by addition of the aerosol generator, is less than or equal to about 1 ml of the total volume of the cavity (V).

7. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a cross section of the cavity (V) and/or the first or the second opening (110, 120) is/are round.

8. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first and/or second end (11, 12) are substantially hollow cylindrical in shape.

9. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first and/or second end (11, 12) are different, in particular have different diameters.

10. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first and/or second end (11, 12) form an angle between 90 and 180°, in particular between 90 and 120°.

11. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first and/or second end (11, 12) form a T-piece together with a third end (13) formed by the aerosol generator (20).

12. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that there is provided a medicament reservoir (21).

13. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the aerosol generator (20) has an interface (22), for connection to a control unit (500).

14. Coupling part as claimed in claim 13 wherein the interface is a USB interface.

15. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the aerosol generator (20) is positioned approximately diametrically opposite the second opening (120) in the second end (12).

16. Coupling part as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that there are provided connections for other devices.

17. Coupling part as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 16 wherein the aerosolised liquid contains a medicament.

18. Use of a coupling part with integrated aerosol generator as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 17 in a breathing circuit for the artificial ventilation of a patient, characterised in that the patient is a new-bom or premature baby.
