WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A lath/rainscreen assembly comprising:

a sheet defining a lath face and a rainscreen face, a first end and a second end, and a first side and a second side, the sheet having a uniform thickness; and

a plurality of protrusions extending from the lath face and from the rainscreen face;

wherein the lath face includes a first area free of protrusions, the first area at least partially defined by the lath face, the first end, the second and the first side;

wherein the rainscreen face includes a second area free of protrusions, the second area at least partially defined by the rainscreen face, the first end, the second end and the second side.

2. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 1, wherein each protrusion includes a stem and a head defining a flat engagement surface; wherein the flat engagement surface is parallel with respect to a plane defined by the sheet.

3. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 2, wherein the stem defines a plurality of peaks and channels.

4. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 2, wherein the stem is tapered.

5. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 1, wherein the sheet and plurality of protrusions are made of an extrudable material.

6. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 2, wherein, with respect to each of the plurality of protrusions, a maximum width of the head is greater than a maximum width of the stem.

7. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 1, wherein the plurality of protrusions are configured to form linear channels.

8. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 1 , wherein the sheet includes a plurality of apertures.

9. A method of installation comprising:

providing a building including a wall supported by a frame having a plurality of beams;

securing water resistant barrier to the wall;

providing a first lath/rainscreen assembly including:

a sheet made of extruded material having a lath face and a rainscreen face; wherein the rainscreen face includes a plurality of protrusions;

positioning the rainscreen face of the lath/rainscreen assembly against the water resistant barrier such that the protrusions contact the water resistant barrier; and inserting a fastener through the sheet and the water resistant barrier and into the wall.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first lath/rainscreen assembly includes an area free of protrusions; the method further comprising the step of providing a second lath/rainscreen assembly and seeming the second lath/rainscreen assembly on top of the area free of protrusions.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the step of securing the second lath/rains creen assembly includes inserting a fastener through the first lath/rainscreen assembly, second lath/rainscreen assembly, and into a wall frame.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the method further includes providing a weep screed and securing the weep screed between the wall and the water resistant barrier, adjacent an end of the first lath/rainscreen assembly.

13. The method of claim 9, wherein the lath face is flat along its entire width.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the building includes a vented metal edge and further wherein the lath/rainscreen assembly is positioned on the water resistant barrier such that the lath terminates at the vented metal edge and is aligned with one beam of the frame.

15. The method of claim 13, further comprising the step of securing siding to the lath face.

16. The method of claim 9, wherein the lath face includes a plurality of protrusions.

17. The method of claim 16, further including positioning a facade on the lath face such that the facade contacts the lath face and the plurality of protrusions on the lath face.

18. The method of claim 9, wherein the sheet has a uniform thickness.

19. A lath/rainscreen assembly comprising:

a sheet of extrudable material having a front face and a rear face; wherein the front face is flat and the rear face includes a plurality of protrusions.

20. The lath/rainscreen assembly of claim 19, wherein the protrusions have a configuration as disclosed herein.
